Judicial Independence

An independent judiciary is a fundamental component of our democratic system of government. It assures citizens accused of crimes and those who turn to the courts to resolve legal disputes that their cases will be handled fairly, objectively and free of outside influences. The CSCJA works with the Canadian Judicial Council and other judicial organizations to defend and strengthen judicial independence, and seeks to improve understanding of the importance of an independent judiciary in its public submissions to the Judicial Compensation and Benefits Commission.
