The Judicial Independence Committee’s recent survey of CSCJA members has revealed concerns about inadequate resources and their potential impact on judicial independence. The survey results, which have been shared with the Canadian Judicial Council (CJC), underscore the need for increased funding to ensure the judiciary has the necessary resources to function effectively, and maintain its independence. A legal opinion was obtained to explore the constitutional requirements for adequate judicial funding. It has also been shared with the CJC to further support their efforts to secure increased funding from Provincial government. The Association plans to continue efforts to support our members obtaining the resources they need to do their work.
