September 10 marked the conclusion of the Federal Court hearings regarding our application for judicial review of the government’s response to the most recent Quadrennial Commission recommendations.
During the hearings, the Court heard submissions from our counsel, counsel to the Associate Judges of the Federal Courts, and the Government of Canada. Our colleagues in attendance and online will agree that our arguments were delivered with conviction and effectively complemented our written brief. Deputy Judge Alexandra Hoy heard the matter and engaged closely with the issues before the Court. She took the decision under reserve.
We now await the Court’s decision and will inform members as soon as there are further developments.
I would like to thank our legal team for their excellent work, and our members for your continued support as we defend the integrity of this process and its important role in protecting judicial independence.
We wish to remind you to direct any public or media inquiries to Stephanie Lockhart, Executive Director, at slockhart@cscja.ca for handling.
Sincerely,
Lukasz Granosik
CSCJA President
