The Public Education and Access to Justice Committee is pleased to share the latest edition of its newsletter on initiatives across Canada aimed at improving access to justice. The goal is to share experiences and learn from different jurisdictions, with the aim of expanding programs that have proven effective.
The most recent edition focuses on initiatives in Quebec and is authored by Justice Bernard Synnott. Highlights include:
- Éducaloi: A leader in legal education, offering plain-language legal information and school outreach.
- SOQUIJ & JuridiQc: Free access to court decisions and a new online tool to assist with divorce, workplace issues, tenant rights, and elder care.
- SARPA: A government service for online child support adjustments without going to court.
- Community Justice Centres: Free, confidential legal information available across Quebec, regardless of income.
- Bar of Montreal’s “Aim for Justice” Events: Free public legal education and consultations.
- Quebec Bar Legal Clinics: Free legal consultations in areas such as family, housing, and labour law.
- Quebec Bar Foundation Legal Guides: Updated “Alone in Court” guides to help people navigate the justice system, available Fall 2025.
