Building on the success of Quebec’s peer support program — launched in June 2025 and now active with 30–35 trained volunteer peer supporters — the CSCJA is moving forward with plans to expand the program nationally.

The proposed national model would involve the training of peer supporters across Canada, conducted by a team of psychologists specializing in supporting judges. The program is designed to provide confidential, peer-led support to members on matters where a colleague’s perspective and understanding can be particularly valuable. The peer supporter is a first line contact to encourage connections and general wellness among each other, while the professional services of the Judges Counselling Program and other services remain available depending on the need and situation of the judge.

Funding options are being examined, with the target of launching training over the 2026–2027 winter months.
